About Lalain’s
Dreams and Aspirations
Lalain Aquino aspires to create compelling stories through all forms of digital media. After graduating from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science in electronic media, she has been working with her family’s business as a social media content creator and manager. She has also worked with other small business in web design, content creation and social media strategy. She wants to improve her technical skills in creative content, editing, videography, photography, writing and marketing.
Lalain is attending Texas A&M University to pursue a Master of Science in Science & Technology Journalism (STJR). She hopes to learn more about scientific research, studies and help millions understand complex sciences through her writing.

As a first-generation student and in my first year in graduate school, I participated in the GRAD Aggie symposium at first… on a whim. But I want everyone to know that it was the best decision I have ever made. In one day, I have not only become a better version of myself but gained new knowledge and skills to tackle graduate school with ease.
“ScienceWriters2024: Some Highlights of the Virtual Sessions”
Retaining the structure that had served its recent predecessors, the conference ScienceWriters2024—organized by the National Association of Science Writers and the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing—consisted of virtual-only sessions on October 17–18, 2024, and in-person components in North Carolina’s Research Triangle on November 8–11. The current report presents highlights of the virtual-only sessions, which were largely panel discussions featuring science writers, science editors, and related professionals.

- Edit a variety of collateral for the College of Engineering and TEES, including flyers, social media posts, and research and award stories.
- Research, interviews, and write press releases, media advisories, feature/news articles highlighting the faculty and research of the College of Engineering and the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station.
- Assists in developing, implementing, and maintaining effective outreach for those stories through media pitches and social media.
